Three New York babies have died from the flu and officials warn the disease continues spreading rapidly across the region.

For the seventh consecutive week, the influenza activity level was categorized as widespread in New York, officials say. In the past week, there were 11,051 confirmed cases of the flu in the state.

The number of patients hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed influenza was 1,837, an 11% decrease over last week.

There were two influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this week. There have been three influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this flu season. Officials didn't say where the infants were from.

In the past week, 1,142 Hudson Valley residents were diagnosed with the flu.
